Feild work
Week1 Octorber 12-13
This was my first day of fieldwork. I was so nervous because I had to take responsibility for my behavior. Also, I worried my poor English. However, the cow workers were very kind to me. They taught me what were my tasks or how to solve a problem. Also, they tried to understand my poor English, so I was happy. On the other hand, I had a big problem. This was having conversations with children. I took care 5 ages of the children. Before starting fieldwork I think they don’ t talk alot but they talked a lot!! Also, if I could not understand what they said, I could not ask again because they could not understand why I could not understand. It was too hard for me. A boy said I need my stuffy, but I didn’t know the meaning of “stuffy”, so I could not do anything. So he was complaining because I didn’t give his stuffy. Then, a coworker helped me so the problem was solved, and I think we must improve my daily vocabulary skills.
Week2 Octorber 19-20
I went to a pumpkin patch. This was for the first time for me to go pumpkin patch so I was excited, also I rode a yellow school bus, and I was really into having conversations with children. While pumpkin patch, children tried to get a pumpkin that was bigger than them. It was so sweet. After that, they painted on the pumpkin. This day I felt time went by quickly.
Week3 Octorber 26-27
This day, I pushed a swing all day. I felt a little bored. A child let go of the ropes, so I said “Grabe the rope please.” But she ignored me. However, I couldn’t say in other words, so I was confused. Then another child said, “Hold on the rope! “. After that, she held on it and I thought I had to study hard!! In addition, a coworker said Melody while looking at me. I couldn’t understand what she wanted to say. Then she said Mirody and I understood she called my name. it was one of the funny things for me.
Week4 November 2-3
This week, I took care 2 age of children. They were so cute and cried a lot. And I could improve daily words such as puppy or belly button. The books for 2 ages of children were easy to understand for me. Also, the teacher sang lots of English songs, so I could spend a great time there. In addition, 2 age of children took a long nap better than 5 age of children. It means I could take longer rest, so I was happy.
Week5 November 9-10
This week is the most peaceful week for me because I didn’t have to go outside. I was happy. I enjoyed reading some books to children while talking with co-workers in a warm room.
Week 6 November 16-17
This week snow pilled up! So we went outside and played in the snow! However, some children didn’t like cold, so they were crying. A child said please make a snowman, so I made a snowman for him, but the snow was too dry to make it. Finally, I made it, and I showed him, but he broke it suddenly. It made me sad. Surprisingly, they ate snow. And I asked them how was it, tasty or spicy? They said cold! I couldn’t why they ate snow. Sometimes, they tried to eat dirty snow, so I warned them.
Week 7 November 23-24
This week was the last week of my fieldwork. I was sad. To tell the truth, I used to want to skip many times because I had to get up at 6:00 a.m. and there were a lot of bus problems. But now I think I am glad that I went there. Cow workers and children gave me a message card and hugged me. It made me happy and sad. I will never forget what I experienced here.
