Hi! I am Midori. I am from Japan. I am studying abroad in Canada. I have two reasons why I decide to go abroad. First, I want to improve my English skills. I am majoring in Kyoto culture in Japan. Kyoto is famous for sightseeing. So, many foreigners visit to sightseeing. When I went out with friends in Kyoto, sometimes foreigners ask me for directions. However, I couldn’t answer fluently. It makes me frustrated. Also, Foreigners want to know about Kyoto more deeply. I know many things about Kyoto thanks to learning in university. But I couldn’t explain due to my English skills. If I could speak English fluently, I would make their trip better.
Second, I want to compare Japanese culture with Canadian culture. I have never been out of Japan since I was born. So, my common sense is based on Japanese culture. But, it is not good for me. Because the number of foreigners who live in Japan is increasing gradually. So I have to adopt this situation. Canada has many kinds of people who have different cultures such as French, Indian, Mexican, United Staes and so on. Therefore, Canada suits me. Through this abroad, I want to recreate my common sense.
